The ORIGAMI project : advanced tools for creating and mixing real and virtual content in film and TV production

ORIGAMI is a EU-finded IST project with the goal of developing advanced tools and new production techniques for high-quality mixing of real and virtual content for film and TV productions. In particular, the project focuses on pre-production tools for set extension through image-based 3 0 modelling of environments and object. One key goal of the project is to achieve real-time in-studio previsualisation of the virtual elements (objects and actors) of the extended set. In this paper we illustrate the studio pre-visualisation system that has been developed for the project, and we describe its usage within a high-end film and TV production environment. We also give an overview of the developed solutions for an automatic generation of 3 0 models of environments
